Nintendo GameCube

The Console was released on September 14, 2001 in Japan, November 18, 2001 in North America and May 3, 2002 in Europe. Nintendo is the fourth home video game console. It is the successor to the Nintendo 64 and predecessor to Nintendo's Wii. Nintendo GameCube is the first among the others which uses the optical discs as its primary storage medium. The GameCube uses MiniDVD based discs instead of full size DVD's. As a result it does not have DVD-Video playback functionality of the Xbox and Playstation2.

This is first Nintendo console which officially supports the online play,by introducing a variety of connectivity options to Nintendo console. The objective behind the designing of Nintendo GameCube was to overcome the perceived limitations and difficulties of programming for the Nintendo 64 architecture,by creating an affordable, well balanced and friendly console which will perform competitively against the consoles of other companies.

Nintendo GameCube use memory cards for saving game data as Playstation 2.The GameCube Memory card comes in multiple Sizes viz 59 blocks(grey cards),251 blocks(black) and 1019 blocks(white). The GameCube was online compatible by using a GameCube Modern Adaptor or Broadband Adapter. This online play was ended on April 2007 but few games are still available on LAN gameplay.
