The Wii is the home video game console which is produced by Ninendo. This is Seventh video game console,and this is competing with the Xbox 360 of Microsoft and Playstations3 of Sony. Nintendo claims that this targets the broader demographic than that of Microsoft and Sony.
The distinguishing factor of console is its wireless controller,the Wii remote, which can be used as handheld pointing device and detect movement in three dimensions. One more distinctive feature which differentiates Wii from others is WiiConnect24.
Due to WiiConnect24,it enables the user to stay connected to the internet while the console is on standby mode. Wii is the fifth generation console, which is the direct successor to the Nintendo Game Cube. Wii is the smallest video console by the Nintendo today.

Wii can be hacked by user to use the console for the activities other than intended by the Nintendo. Several brands of mode chips are available for the Wii. The Wii remote is the primary controller of the console. It uses a combination of built-in accelerometers and infrared detection to sense its position in 3D.
Wii is 1.5 to 2 times powerful as compare to its predecessor. The Wii uses the storage system similar to the Game cube,which uses block units rather than bytes.
